This week, the Logue Library will take
part in the annual Library event - "Banned Books Week."
This week September 22-28, 2019 celebrates the freedom to
read.
The theme this year is
titled, "Keep the Light On."
According to the American Librarian Association, "the purpose of Banned Books Week is to spotlight "current and historical attempts to censor books in libraries and schools. It brings together the entire book community — librarians, booksellers, publishers, journalists, teachers, and readers of all types — in shared support of the freedom to seek and to express ideas, even those some consider unorthodox or unpopular.”
Furthermore, a book is considered "Banned"
if it displays religious viewpoints, sexual content or offensive
language.
Logue Library holds some of the recognized
Banned Books.
